West Texas Silhouettes

Two photos I’ve taken recently of some landmarks here in my home state. You know you’re in west Texas when you can’t drive more than 20 minutes without seeing one or both of these:
Oil Field (my front yard). Not as smelly as you’d imagine and pretty cool considering there’s lots of wildlife that can live in the undisturbed landscape around the rigs. Lubbock Country Club, Lubbock, Texas.
And, off course, a High School Football Stadium. It wouldnt be West Texas without those friday night lights. Shallowater HS, Shallowater, Texas.
I love visiting Texas!!
It’s a beautiful place! If your idea of beauty includes dust, wind, and a whole lot of flat land (in West Texas, at least). I am proud to say I’m a Texan!
What parts of Texas do you visit?
I went to Dallas and Houston only. So much more I want to explore!!!
Dallas & Houston are great…next time you get around to Texas, check out Austin, San Antonio, and Guadalupe. Austin is probably one of my favorite places in the world! And of course, come up to Lubbock and Amarillo if you want…it’s the flat, dry, dusty part of the state but we have sunsets like none other!
Oh my gosh…Austin is definitely a place I have been wanting to visit for awhile now. And places with amazing sunsets? LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Jealous of you lol
Love that second shot. Very dramatic.
Thanks, Paul! It was a chance shot one semi-stormy sunset evening before a high school football game. Pure luck…but aren’t those the shots that usually come out the best?! 😉 Thanks for reading Iron Knee.
